Agneyswar Temple
:
After entering into the inner
enclosure and turning to left, the pilgrim finds a small temple where Agneyswar, the image
of Lord Siva is worshipped. It is believed that Lord Agneyswar is the guardian deity of
Kurma Bedha, that is the inner enclosure."
Satyanarayan Temple :
According to religious customs,
Bishnu with white clothes is first involved in all functions. Image of Lord Bishnu is
installed on the southern side of Kurma Bedha and named as Satyanarayan. The deity
Satyanarayan is carved in black marble stone.
Kalpabata :
There is a huge banyan tree in the inner
enclosure which is called as Kalpabat. It has been described in Puranas that when the
entire earth stink under water, this tree was there. It is believed that this tree fulfils
the desire of the devotees if he/she express his/her desire standing under the
tree
Kalpa Ganesh Temple :
The Ganesh temple situated
under the Kalpabata is known as Kalpa Ganesh. As per vedic customs Ganesh is worshipped
first in the regular worship of all Gods and Goddesses. It is said that Ganesh was being
worshipped here after construction of the main temple of Jagannath and before installation
of the deities there is. It is prescribed that devotees recting the Bija Mantra of Ganesh
108 times get all their desires fulfilled. The deity is curbed is white marble stone.
Sarbamangala Temple :
This temple is situated at the
backside of the Kalpa Ganesh temple. Sarbamangala is the source of all Sakti, i.e. energy
and power. This temple is an important place of worship for Tantric practices.
Panch Pandab Temple : It has been mentioned in Oriya Mahabharat, written in 15th century, that the five Pandab brothers
visited this place while under going Banabas, they prayed to Jagannath in order to
overcome all troubles. In memory of these five Pandabs five Lings of siba were installed,
these five lings are called Panch Pandabs. Out of these Pandabas the temple of
Markandeswar is the largest and other four Pandabs are Lokanath, Yameswar, Kapalamochan
and Nilakanth.
Ananta Basudeb Temple : In this temple the image of Anant or
Basudeb is being worshipped here.
Bajreswari Temple :
Maha Bajreswari, the Sakti of Indra, who
is popularly known as Indrani has been installed in this temple
Kuttam Chandi Temple : It is said, originally the image of a
dog that is now found here was in sanctum sanctorum of the main temple. According to
tantric worship, when the Goddess Bhairavee is invocated, food was offered and later on, a
part of it was given to a dog. But at some time in history, when Vaishnavish dominated,
this image of the dog was removed from inner sanctorum and brought over here. The
tantrics say that Jagannath in Puri Temple is not Vishnu , Narayan or Srikrishna. He is
Bhairava, an expression of Lord Siva and Bimala in the temple complex is no other than
Bhairavee. The body of Kuttam Chandi resembles a dog while here head is human
Surya Yantra Temple : In this temple of Yantra (drawing) of
Sun-God is seen engraved in the daily rituals of the temple, the worship of the God Sun
comes first of all other activities
Khetrapal Temple :
The image of Khetrapal, the protection of
main temple as well as the complex has been installed in this temple.
Muktimandapa :
The high pavilion located in front of the
Southern entrance of the main temple is called Muktimandapa. It is believed that during
construction of the temple, Lord Brahma, the creation Universe, himself sat on this
pavilion and gave instruction to Biswakarma about construction of the temple. At present
scholars and learned persons sit on this pavilion and deliberate on religious texts and
practices, give decisions on problem of religious law and customs. Muktimandapa is a raised
platform of an area of 38 sq. ft having 16 pillars and rood over it. Historians believes
that this Mandap have been constructed in 1578 AD by Rani Gouri Devi, the wife of the
Mogul General Raja Man Singh.
Nrisimha Temple : Adjacent to Muktimandapa to the west this
temple is situated. It is said that Chodaganga Deb had constructed this temple and
installed this deity before consecrating the main temple. There are ancient inscriptious
are on the temple walls.
Jalakrida Mandap :
This raised platform having a rood like a
temple used in different festivals including Bhitar Chandan Festival
Kanchi Ganesh Temple :
At the back side of Jalakrida Mandap,
in a temple facing south, an image of Lord Ganesh in a dancing pose is being worshipped.
He is also known as Nata Ganesh.
Rohinikund :
There is a small water-pot made of stone
situated in front of Jalakrida Mandapa is known as Rohinikunda. It
has been mentioned is the Puranas that once a thirsty crow fell in the water of this
water-pit and soon it assumed four handed form resembling Bishnu.
